Born and raised in Dunedin NZ, Sarah
has competed as a Triathlete / Duathlete for the past 3 years while
also competing as a runner at both national and international level.
To describe this up and coming Triathlete/Duathlete as “naturally
talented” would be somewhat of an understatement. Sarah’s
performances during the past Four years have been nothing less than
astonishing with 9 national titles in three different sports.
Over the past 2˝ years Sarah has convincingly won both the NZ
National U19 Duathlon and Triathlon titles twice while also winning
the New Zealand Secondary Schools 4000m road running title by over
30 seconds from her nearest competitor. Sarah also finished 3rd at
the World Junior Duathlon Championships in Switzerland in the 2003.
While always being a strong running competitor, the greatest
improvement in Sarah’s performances over the past 12 months have
been in both her swimming and cycling ability. This improvement from
strength in one discipline to balanced strength across all three
disciplines has seen Sarah become a real contender this year not
just at junior level where she has been dominant but also at an open
level.
This coming season will see Sarah competing in the World Triathlon
Championships in Portugal in the elite U19 field while also
beginning to race some of the ITU points races later in 2004.
With this sort of talent and a blistering run leg off the bike,
Sarah will be one to watch over the next few years as she becomes
increasingly focused on international competition and works towards
Commonwealth games and Olympic selection.
